Four Las Vegas casinos have started working at full capacity for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic started. Strat, formerly known as the Stratosphere, is the fourth Las Vegas casino to lift all COVID-19 restrictions and operate its casino floor as it did before the pandemic.
The casino met with officials from the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) on Monday and got the green light to go to 100 per cent capacity.
Three other Las Vegas casinos were allowed to move to 100 per cent capacity on their casino floors by the NGCB before Strat. The Wynn Las Vegas, Cosmopolitan, and Encore all got their NGCB approvals last week after they provided evidence to the gambling regulator that at least 80 per cent of the people who worked at the casinos had already received at least one vaccine shot.
Strat will now be able to remove the plastic separators that stood between casino players and will also lift all distancing and capacity limits from slot machines and gambling tables.
Masks Are Still Required
Golden Entertainment, the company that owns Strat Hotel, Casino & SkyPod, announced that it created on-site casino vaccination clinics where employees and their families could get their shots of the vaccine. They did this to ensure that all of their employees were healthy and to move to 100 per cent capacity as soon as possible.
However, the casino said that wearing masks was still mandatory. Stephen Thayer, General Manager and Property Vice President, confirmed that all guests and workers at the casino will have to continue wearing masks even after the casino moves to 100 per cent capacity.
Tallest Casino in Vegas
Strat is the tallest building on Las Vegas Boulevard. It is 1,149 feet (350 metres) high, has a 2,427-room hotel and features an iconic restaurant that has a dining room that can rotate 360 degrees. The 25-year-old tower also features several thrill rides. Golden Entertainment purchased the resort in 2017 and has been renovating the place since.
