PA Casinos Generated US$5.2 Billion in Revenue in 2022

The gambling industry in Pennsylvania broke all revenue records in 2022. The 16 casinos operating in the Keystone State generated US$5.2 billion in revenue last year. According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, that’s US$500 million more than what the same casinos made in 2021.

Those high gaming revenue figures resulted in record-breaking tax revenue for Pennsylvania too. The state collected US$2.1 billion last year, s US$191.8 million more than it gathered from PA casinos in 2021.

Slot Machines Generated US$2.4 Billion in Revenue

The largest increase in revenue in 2022 came in the internet gaming sector, where US$1.36 billion was wagered by Pennsylvania players, up 22.6% compared to 2021. Sports betting was second, with US$401.2 million in revenue generated – an 18% increase.

Table games and slot machines also had a great year. Table game revenue (US$990.5 million) was closer to one billion dollars than ever before. Slots continued to rake in the billions and generated US$2.4 billion in 2022.

Fantasy contests were the only gambling category in Pennsylvania to have a worse year, with revenue dropping by 23.9% to US$22.3 million.

Land-based casinos in Pennsylvania had a year to remember too. Rivers Casino’s gaming revenue was US$373.9 million, up 5.2%, while Hollywood Casino generated US$265.7 million, an increase of 5.6%. Live! Casino Pittsburgh had the highest rise in revenue. It generated US$111.9 million, up 10.3%.
