Buffalo Bill’s Casino Reopens After Closing in March 2020

Buffalo Bill’s Resort and Casino in Primm, Nevada, closed in March 2020 because of the COVID pandemic. Two years later, the casino is open again.

Moreover, Affinity Gaming, the company that operates the casino said that it was planning a “multi-million-dollar” improvement of all of its properties, including Buffalo Bill’s Resort and Casino. The operator said that it was great to see “the reels spinning again at Buffalo Bill’s.”

Renovating and Upgrading the Property

Casino officials told KSNV that the A-tower, where most of the gaming options were located, was soon going to be renovated. The casino will also get a new video screen, and six or seven restaurants will resume operations

According to The Nevada Independent, the resort will once again host concerts, with 20 to 25 events expected to take place at the newly renovated property.

One thing that won’t reopen, though, is the Desperado Rollercoaster. The attraction was one of the tallest coasters in the world when it opened in 1994 and was unique because one part of the track went through the casino.

Affinity Paid US$400 Million to MGM Resorts for Three Primm Casinos

Affinity bought the three casinos in Primm (Buffalo Bill’s, Whiskey Pete’s, and Primm Valley) in 2007 while it was still known as Herbst Gaming. The company paid US$400 million to MGM Resorts for them.

Herbst Gaming filed for bankruptcy in 2009 but returned in 2011 after it successfully reorganized its operations and was rebranded as Affinity Gaming. Z Capital Group from Illinois is the current owner of Affinity Gaming.

Affinity now operates five Nevada casinos. Three of them are the Primm properties it acquired in 2007. It also owns the Silver Sevens casino in Las Vegas and Rail City in Sparks. Affinity Gaming operates two Missouri venues and one casino in Iowa too.
